Poetry Reading by Gene Ptak

Valentine's Day Poetry Reading by Gene Ptak

Gene Ptak will be reading his own poetry on nature and politics along with a selection of verses from CarI Sandburg, William Shakespeare, Naomi Shihab Nye, Louise Glück, and others. He’ll also be telling a rather unique story of the “first” Valentine, a Roman soldier.

Gene is a poet and storyteller whose program “Poetry Now!” airs every Wednesday morning on West Marin Community radio station, KWMR 90.5 FM, and streams at kwmr.org. On the show, he presents poetry and poets from around the world, complemented by his eclectic collection of music from the ancient to the contemporary.

Now retired, Gene was an award-winning drama teacher in Marin County public schools for 35 years and studied with the Shakespeare Institute in Stratford-Upon-Avon through a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. He has directed and acted in numerous Marin County theatrical productions, most recently with Sharron Drake Community Arts. Gene currently serves on the Board of Directors of West Marin Community Services.

Free event, drop in. 10:30-11:30, Friday, February 14th at Tenfold Farmstand.
